Frequently Asked Questions

Why Does My Car Have Spots After Washing?

Those frustrating spots that are left on your car after washing are caused by hard water deposits.

Water that is described as hard contains high levels of total dissolved solids (TDS) such as calcium and magnesium. As the water evaporates these minerals are left behind.

How Does A Spot Free System Work?

Spot Free Systems use a combination of carbon and sediment filtration followed by resin to remove Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) such as calcium and magnesium.

The initial sediment and carbon filtration reduces chlorine and other chemicals that can cause rapid depletion of your resin. The resin then demineralises the water removing the total dissolved solids that cause spotting.

How Often Do You Need To Replace The Resin In A Spot Free System?

The lifespan of your resin will depend on the size of your system, the quality of your water and its usage.

Water that is particularly high in total dissolved solids is going to exhaust your resin earlier than water that contains lower levels of total dissolved solids. Additionally a larger system is going to have a longer lifespan that one of our smaller systems. It is recommended to use your Spot Free System as a final rinse only to reserve your resin.

How Do I Know If My Resin Needs Replacing?

Some Spot Free Systems will come with a TDS Meter which will help you determine if your resin needs replacing.

Once this meter reads 8-10ppm or spots start to appear you will need to change your resin.
