They have developed the CWP series of whole house water filters systems with the goal of providing comprehensive water purification at an affordable price.
This system uses high-quality components to remove or neutralise a wide range of contaminants including sediment, rust, dirt, chemicals, bad taste/odour, cryptosporidium, Giardia, cyclospora, bacteria, viruses, and much more.
The CWP-55 treats 100% of the water coming into your home or business, providing you with water that is delicious and safe to consume. A great choice for anyone on untreated water.
The perfect unit for rainwater treatment – transforming your collected tank water into safe drinking water for your family or small business. Also suitable for bore, creek, and river water systems (pending review of water reports). Can even be used for town water treatment, to provide you with an additional layer of protections against common pathogens.
Main Features
- Reduces Wide Range of Contaminants
The CWP-55 reduces common contaminants like sediment, dirt, rust, bad taste.odour and organic chemicals (pesticide, herbicides etc). The ultraviolet sterilises component destroys 99.99% of bacteria, viruses, algal spores, and parasitic cysts (cryptosporidium, cyclospora, giardia). the end result is water that is clean, delicious, and safe to consume. - Fully Integrated Unit
Single unit combines three different styles of water treatment to deliver clean, delicious, and safe water. - No harmful by-products and no overdosing risk
The unit does not use any chemicals and there is no negative impact on taste, odour or colour of your water. and no corrosion problems. - Built to Australian Standards
Watermarked product which has been certified to meet Australian plumbing standards. WaterMark certificate number ISC-WM-030013-I02-R00 - High-quality Construction
Built for the harsh Australian environment with premium components and high-quality construction. Uses a corrosion resistant 316 Stainless Steel UV Steriliser reactor and heavy duty filter housings. Large 1″ BSP inlet and outlet ports and High power 55W UV Lamp with 9,000 hours lamp life - Choice of Multiple Filter Combinations
Both disposable and washable/refillable filter options are available. If you require different micron ratings, let us know. - Standard Filter Size
The UV Guard CWP-55 uses standard 20″ x 4.5 inch Double Open Ended (DOE) filters. They are a standard form factor which is sold by hundreds of shops Australia. No expensive proprietary filters are required, which saves on cost and makes finding replacements simple. - Warning system for peace-of-mind
The unit has an electronic ballast with a filter change and filter failure warning mechanism.
Filtration Process
The CWP-55 uses a three stage process.
Stage 1: Sediment Filtration (Mechanical Filtration)
The stage 1 sediment filter catches fine particulate contaminants like sand, rust, dirt, mud, leaves, and decaying organic matter. Both disposable and washable options are available.
Stage 2: Carbon Filtration (Adsorption Filtration)
Stage 2 filters uses activated coconut carbon to capture or alter the form of incoming organic chemicals. Reduces a wide range of chemicals including pesticides and herbicides. Also reduce bad taste/odours in the water, making your water mmuch more enjoyable.
Stage 3: UV Sterilisation
This stage uses powerful ultraviolet light to neutralise pathogens which may be present in the water. Effective against bacteria (including E. Coli), viruses, protozoa, chlorine-resistant cryptosporidium, cyclospora, and more.
Filter Options
There are two filter combinations available:
Option 1: Washable/Reusable Filters
- Stage 1: 20″ x 4.5″ Pleated Washable Sediment Filter – 5 microns
This type of filter is made from polpropylene pleats. When the surface of the pleats has become coated with sediment, it can be washed, which opens up the pleats again and restores some flow rate. These filters can typically be washed 4-5 times before they need to be replaced. A more cost effective option if you are happy to wash the filter every few months. - Stage 2: 20″ x 4.5″ Refillable Carbon Filter with Silver Impregnated Carbon
This is a solid plastic filter with a screw top lid that contains granular carbon. Once the carbon has reached full capacity, it can be dumped on your garden or in the green bin, then topped up with a bag of carbon. A more environmentally friendly option as you are not discarding the entire cartridge.
The main advantages of the washable/reusable option are:
- Cost savings
- Better for the environment
- The pleated filters have more surface area than the disposable type and are less likely to block suddenly
- Less pressure drop as water can pass through more easily
- Longer lifespan
Option 2: Disposable Filters
- Stage 1: 20″ x 4.5″ Disposable Sediment Filter – 5 microns
This type of filter is made from solid polypropylene. When the filter has reached full capacity, it is discarded. - Stage 2: 20″ x 4.5″ Disposable Silver Impregnated Carbon Filter – 5 Micron
A solid block of powdered silver carbon bonded together with a food grade binding agent. Wrapped in a sediment wrap. Once this filter has reached full capacity or has become blocked by sediment it is discarded.
The main advantages of disposable filters:
- Super convenient as there is no washing or cleaning of refillable cartridges required
- The sediment filter is slightly cheaper (although the carbon is more expensive)
- A dense block of silver carbon contains more carbon than a granular filter, so achieves better chemical reduction.

Replacement Parts
UV System:
- Lamp – 11066 (12 Monthly)
- O-ring – 31000 (change when changing lamp)
- Thimble – 20290 (As required, clean when replacing lamp, replacement usually after 2-3 years)
- Ballast – 40090 (As required)
Installation Notes
If your water pressure may exceed 80 PSI at any time, a 500 kPa (70 PSI) pressure limiting valve must be installed to protect the housing. Failure to install a PLV on high pressure water can void warranty.
3/4″ BSP female 500 kPa pressure limiting valves are available here: PR20 3/4″Pressure Limiting Valve. If your system has plastic ports do not use pipe dope or other liquid thread sealers. Use only Teflon tape to seal threaded connections.
